1. Promix Grass-Fed Whey
SHOP NOW
Developed and sold by Promix Nutrition, Promix Grass-Fed Whey Protein is formulated with premium, directly-sourced ingredients, and is complete with third-party testing for safety and quality assurance.
Due to their manufacturing methods, Promix is able to deliver highly bioavailable ingredients so that you can get the most out of the product. Additionally, it’s the only grass-fed whey that contains verified glutathione (180mg/serving).
Maybe the most unique, however, is the fact that they only use year-round grass-fed supply from Californian farms to source their whey. An incredible distinction above its competitors.
Promix Grass-fed Whey comes in a variety of flavors: Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Vanilla, Chocolate peanut butter, and unflavoured. Additionally, their grass-fed products come in regular whey, whey protein isolate, AND vegan, tailoring to all demographics.
The loyalty to this product, and brand overall, is strong. Promix’s Grass-fed Whey Protein in particular boasts an incredible 1500+ reviews on Amazon! Not to mention their hundreds of five-star reviews on their website.
Promix comes in at #1 for good reason: highest quality, safest, and most tested!
2. Pure Whey Grass-Fed Protein
SHOP NOW
Made by Pure Label Nutrition, Pure Whey comes in at #2! Similar to Promix, Pure whey is sourced only from US dairy and grass-fed farms. As stated on their packaging, it’s gluten-free, soy-free, hormone-free, rBGH free, and non-GMO!
While Promix also offers an unflavoured version of their protein, it can be said that Pure Whey “specializes” in the unflavoured department. Boasting almost 1400 reviews on Amazon, the majority are related to the taste or lack thereof…A positive in many people’s books.
Pure Whey is properly named, as it may just be the cleanest, purest product on the market!
Coming in at 24 grams of protein per serving, it’s impressive what Pure Whey has to offer. The best part? It mixes with ease! While it’s often a complaint with protein powders, especially grass-fed protein powders, Pure Whey has seemed to perfect the “mix-ability” of their product!
The one downside? It has been reported the inconsistencies of color. While it isn’t a safety or health issue, it is understandably a potential turn-off. Rest assured, this inconsistency is likely due to the time of year in which their ingredients have been sourced.
3. Opportuniteas Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate
SHOP NOW
Produced by Opportuniteas , a nutritional supplement company based upon the premise of offering real foods and superfoods, their grass-fed whey protein isolate comes in at #3 on the list!
Boasting an incredible 27 grams of protein per serving, this may be its best selling point. So why has it come in at #3 instead of #1? After all, we’re trying to consume protein at the end of the day, right?!
Opportuniteas uses 2 ingredients: grass-fed sourced whey protein isolate, and lecithin derived from sunflower…Unfortunately, the latter ingredient is seen by many as a con, or negative if you will.
Nonetheless, This grass-fed whey protein isolate is a fantastic choice for the organic, all-natural consumer.
It provides you with very high nutritional value while avoiding things like artificial flavors, chemicals, sugars, and lactose…
4. Raw Grass-Fed Whey
SHOP NOW
Manufactured and sold by a company called Raw Organic, Raw Grass-Fed Whey comes in at #4. The name speaks for itself. The commitment to raw, organic, all-natural sourced ingredients if of the utmost importance to this company.
Unfortunately for them, their protein powder only offers 21 grams of protein per serving. While this is still a sufficient amount of protein per serving, it doesn’t compare to its competitors. Nonetheless, it still provides the consumer with an effective amount of protein, and BCAA’s (6.5g/serving).
While the quality of this product is up there with the best of them, there are a few cons in their package. A notable one is that it does not come with a powder scoop! It’s a minor issue that makes for a major complaint.
5. Muscle Feast Grass-Fed Whey Protein
SHOP NOW
Boasting almost 1000 reviews on Amazon, Muscle Feasts Grass-fed Whey Protein Isolate comes in at #5. While this protein doesn’t typically show up on top lists, it’s an overlooked, under-appreciated product in my opinion.
It comes in 2 sizes, offers 4 flavors including an unflavoured version, and provides 5 versions: 100% Whey, and Whey Protein Isolate, hydrolyzed, concentrate, and premium blend! According to their website, it’s 100% natural, hormone-free, rBGH and rBST free, and offers just under 21 grams of protein per serving.
It’s not the most mainstream as it’s typically marketed to bodybuilders where grass-fed isn’t valued as much. Nonetheless, Muscle Feast offers great value, fast-digesting, pure, clean, and natural.
6. Naked Whey
SHOP NOW
Naked Whey is a 100% premium grass-fed whey protein with nothing to hide. It even says it on their packaging! However, their simplicity isn’t all butterflies and rainbows.
According to reviews, their flavor and taste isn’t anything to cheer about. Additionally, mixing it may prove to be an inconvenience.
On a more positive note, however, it does provide 25 grams of high-quality protein. A common theme among grass-fed whey proteins, Naked Whey included, is that there are no additives, no chemicals, non-GMO, and low sugar.
7. Garden of Life Organic Grass-Fed Whey
SHOP NOW
Last but certainly not least, coming in at #7 – Garden of Life’s organic Grass-fed Whey Protein.
This protein is provided to us in two formats. One is the organic version. The second is the SPORT certified version (shown in the image above). Their whey protein is sourced from Ireland and California, where grazing occurs the majority of the year! A huge bonus.
While the sport certified version only comes in 2 flavors, the organic version comes in an additional 4 flavors and boasts 21g of protein/serving. The downside? It’s sweetened with stevia. While this is seen as a positive to many, I find stevia to taste unnatural and bitter.
Overall, Garden of Life is a very trustworthy, USDA certified company. You can’t go wrong here.

The Benefits of Grass-Fed Whey
The difference between grass-fed cattle and grain-fed cattle all comes down to the quality of the product produced. It impacts the amino acid profile, it influences the quality of the whey produced, It diminishes the level of healthy fats to unhealthy fats, and if you’re one for animal rights, it results in a happier and healthier cow!
When consuming something produced from another animal, it’s vitally important to have an understanding of what that animal consumes as well. In essence, you are what you eat. In this case, you are what the animal eats…
At the end of the day, feeding cows grass is a much more instinctual, natural source of food. Not only does grass influence their microbiome health, but it influences the environment in which they live in. If fed grass, cattle get to roam free the acres of land and graze on grass instead of genetically modified grain.
Additionally, most regular whey options are masked with artificial flavors, colors, sugar, and other misleading, and potentially harmful chemical substances.
It doesn’t take a genius to understand that grass-fed is the premium choice for not only you but for the animal, as well.
Below are some of the benefits of Grass-fed Whey
